Our Club began in 1992 as a response to increasing gang activity and youth violence in Bloomfield.  Community members from many walks of life banded together to find a solution, and it was decided to organize a Boys & Girls Club. This national organization has a reputation for providing high quality programs for at-risk youth. In October of 1993, the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield became incorporated and was chartered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Since that time, the Club has called many places home – from a garage to the building that once housed Bloomfield's first post office. With a growing population and a need for space to conduct the variety of current programs as well as potential programs that are offered in other Boys & Girls Clubs, the Board of Directors made plans and began seeking ways to raise funds for a larger facility. A capital campaign was started and approximately $1 million dollars was raised for a new facility. In August 2004, our dream of having a new building of our own became a reality.

Currently the Club offers a multitude of programs to youth and their families. We strive to provide a safe place for youth from all backgrounds, to learn and grow, with special concern for those from challenging circumstances. Our goal is to enable youth to gain the knowledge and skills to become responsible citizens and leaders who are able to support themselves and live successful lives.
